It’s more pertinent and traditional in Yorubaland in Southwestern Nigeria to give names to a newborn baby based on the trajectory of occurrences or happenings during the time the baby is born or based on the wishes of the parents concerning the baby.
Meanwhile, christening a newborn baby is not only traditional in Yorubaland but spiritual owing to the fact that prayers must be invoked basically in either worship centres, shrines, or the family house of the newborn baby’s parents as the case may be. Everybody’s belief is that everyone is likely to share in the fortune or otherwise in the original meaning of their names, even as far as to reinforce their destiny with it in life.
In a nutshell, the majority of Yoruba originators do believe that such generational beliefs exist and so established in culture, traditions, and spiritual lives of individuals as Africans. With this assertion, it’s more convenient and congruently agreed that the Ondo State Governor, His Excellency Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is a pure reflection of his name for good.
While observing his adult life as a politician and public administrator, it is noted that he enjoys good luck wonderfully in his political life in what the Christian adherents will call, ‘grace’, beyond the normal calculations or thoughts of many politicians as luckily expressed by his dear boss, the immediate past Governor of Ondo State, late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN CON (may his soul continue to rest in peace) during the Inauguration of H.E Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as the then, Deputy Governor of Ondo State.
Even recently when he was faced with the unfortunate political war of attrition in power play for occupation, the spiritual interpretation of his name naturally worked for his victory in humility and more confidence to serve the good people of Ondo State in the capacity of Governor more than ever before. In political permutations, he is lucky, in political patronage, he has found goodness in his spirit (Orimisan), and in political arrangements, the world is claiming the possession of greatness with him (Aiyedatiwa).
No wonder, his popularity is soaring, his acceptability is evident, his capability is enshrined, and his capacity has been confirmed when luck met his preparedness in the task ahead as the Executive Governor of Ondo State. It is no more news that everybody is clamouring for his candidacy on the banner of All Progressives Congress (APC) aggressively across the state to fly the party’s flag in November 2024’s gubernatorial election for the betterment of Ondo State.
With the gathering of political momentum in his favour towards this year’s gubernatorial election in Ondo State, truly, his name is really reflecting the interpretation in it of his destiny to become Ondo State Governor beyond 2025.
