In a bid to foster a sense of unity, purpose, and collaboration, the Young and Excellent Club (YEC) recently convened its first physical strategic meeting for the year 2024 on January 20th at the University of Ibadan. The session, led by the charismatic President, Mr. Damola Giwa, took the form of a heart-to-heart conversation, creating a conducive atmosphere for the exchange of visions and mentorship.

Each participant seized the opportunity to articulate their aspirations for the upcoming year, receiving valuable guidance from President Damola Giwa. The meeting also served as a platform for members to connect, build bonds, and explore collaborative ventures that would contribute to the club’s overarching goals.
While the in-person gathering was a significant step towards strengthening interpersonal connections, YEC is not limiting its engagement solely to physical meetings. Plans for a forthcoming virtual meeting were announced to discuss the strategic blueprint for the year.
Emphasizing a focused and committed approach, YEC Program Officer, Mr. Tosin Animasahun , underscored the importance of punctuality in joining these meetings. This proactive stance aims to identify and retain individuals fully committed to the club’s objectives, fostering a dedicated and efficient team.
In a departure from previous years, YEC has opted for a more streamlined approach in 2024. Program Officer, Mr. Tosin Animasahun announced the formation of subgroups to oversee specific programs throughout the year. These include the Media Team, Outreach, Essay and Speech Competition, and more.
One noteworthy initiative unveiled during the meeting involves each YEC volunteer reaching out to 500 secondary school students within the year. Volunteers will be paired, collectively aiming to impact a thousand students. The strategy involves selecting schools to host YEC programs and initiatives, aligning with the strengths and expertise of each volunteer.
As YEC gears up for a dynamic year of impact, these strategic moves underline the organization’s commitment to quality over quantity and a collective drive to make a lasting difference in the lives of young individuals.
